Learning about safety
February & March
We have been learning about personal safety and were lucky to have several special visitors come and help us explore this further. We had some educators from the responsible pet program come in and teach us about how to be safe with dogs. This was a great opportunity to learn about safety about also for many children to engage with dogs in a safe and familiar environment. We also had a visit from Healthy Harold who reinforced messages about healthy eating, rest., exercise and dental health. The children love learning through this hands-on programs and are developing their knowledge of how to care for themselves and stay safe.
Welcome to preschool
We celebrated the start of our new preschool year with an evening picnic for our families. Matt Doyle came along and performed a traditional welcome and smoking ceremony. This was a fantastic way to get to know one another, mark the beginning of our preschool year and acknowledge the traditional custodians of our land.
Helping our farmers
August 20-24, 2018
After the children displayed curiosity about farms the discussions naturally lead to talking about the current drought crisis. The children wanted to help the farmers so we decided to have a bake sale. Each class baked some yummy treats using Australian produce and through the bake sale we raised over $720 for drought relief. This was a fantastic effort and shows what a caring and supporting community we belong to.
